This guitar is all about the sound from the top spec wood used in its construction. This signature Stretton Payne guitar is a limited edition run and we wanted to concentrate on the body wood to give unrivalled sound at its price. All the money goes on the soundboard and back and sides.
Its beautifully constructed using a solid piece of spruce wood for the top. The spruce wood is selected for its tight and straight grain which gives excellent tone. The fibres in the spruce conduct the vibrations of the strings to give a superior sound. It does make a big difference compared to the cheaper laminated beginner guitars.
When you play the guitar lightly it sounds wonderfully smooth but when you play the guitar hard it is really punchy and brilliant for those big jingle jangle chords.
We have made the solid spruce top with a matt finish, not glossing the wood which adds weight and restriction to the soundboard. It has a simple dark rosewood band rosette around the sound hole which matches the dark rosewood back and sides. The rosewood used looks amazing with the open pore grain and combines perfectly with the solid spruce soundboard to make the guitar sound warm and bright.
The venetian cutaway on the body allows you to access the top end frets. The fret board is a lovely piece of dark rosewood with polished nickel frets and pearl inlays. The neck is solid mahogany and the headstock has a rosewood cap matching the back and sides with the S signature in gold.
It keeps in perfect tune with the diecast machine heads and the action is set low with the two-way truss rod. This guitar is an absolute stunner and it¶?s all about the sound of the wood used. Top quality strings and setup directly prior to despatch here in Hinckley England by Stretton Payne.
